Research shows that homicides occur at a higher rate when guns are allowed near worksites. Duh! I hope not too much money was spent reaching that "gee, shouldn’t we have guessed that" conclusion.
Among the Indiana Chamber’s many legislative victories in recent years has been defeating a variety of bills that would prohibit employers from banning guns. Other states have not been so successful.
Employers are unable to as fully as possible provide for the safety of their employees in Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi and Oklahoma. Idaho and Montana reportedly have bills awaiting signature with a half-dozen others considering similar legislation.
The right to bear arms is an important one. However, the need to have guns in the workplace or even in the car in the parking lot is an invitation to increased violence and unnecessary loss of life.
